Wroclaw is the European Capital of Culture 2016

Wroclaw has been chosen as the European Capital of Culture for 2016. The announcement follows the decision made by the selection panel, comprised of experts from the European Union and Poland, at the end of June.Wroclaw was a unanimous decision. The European Capital of Culture is judged on three criteria: “Europeanism”, trade and commerce, and cultural heritage. But another vital factor is meeting the needs and expectations of its people. “Our people are most important”, said President of Wroclaw Rafal Dutkiewicz following the announcement.In coming years, Wroclaw is planning to develop its cultural sector with the aim of becoming the cultural centre in Europe by the celebration year. As a result, it hopes to attract and encourage an international audience to participate and integrate in the culture of local residents. Eurocal Group’s partner REC Solutions was the chosen partner to develop the website for Wroclaw 2016.
